Simply speaking, there are a two poles and a three poles power socket. There are some reasons why five-pins socket is more popular.

1. Five-pins socket has more reasonable use of space resources.  Just imagine it, if a power outlet has only one two-poles or only one three-poles, we won’t be able to utilize the space well.

2. Five-pins socket is more economical. It's obvious that, in the same scope of use, we only need one five-pins socket to use two-poles and 3-poles in the same time.

3. Five-pins socket is more convenient. Unlike common single three-pins or two-pins socket, five-pins socket has more choice.

Although most five-pins sockets are similar in appearance, the material of their shells and base plates is quite different, generally including three materials - PC, PA and ABS.

PC belongs to engineering plastics; it has high price, high temperature resistance, extrusion resistance, flame retardancy and aging resistance.  PA is nylon; it has better strength and temperature resistance than ABS.  ABS belongs to ordinary plastics; it has general compression resistance and flammability. It will gradually turn yellow and fragile after long use. In terms of performance, PC has the best performance, and ABS is the worst.  But in terms of economic benefits, ABS is the cheapest and PC is the most expensive.

Although the socket is not like household appliances, it is related to the daily safety of the family and the first line of defense to ensure the electrical safety of the family. Therefore, when choosing the socket, you must not be careless.
